How Technology Has Changed Every Industry Of Work

Technology has been disrupting the workforce for years and the effects of the recent pandemic have only exacerbated this. Everyone assumes the changes are negative and believe that robots are going to put every human worker out of work within the next decade. The truth, however, is that technology will have more positive than negative effects on the world of work.

A concept known as creative-destruction occurs whenever technology advances enough. Put simply, new jobs emerge to replace the old within disrupted industries. When the combustion engine was invented, automobile manufacturing exploded and helped to create the oil and tourism industries among others. Regardless of the effects on existing jobs, there will always be opportunities for human workers. That said, it is worth looking at what some of those effects may be.

Big Data

One of the more prominent changes technology has had on industries around the world is the widespread increase in Internet use and the abundance of data. A digital commerce report found that $607.75 billion was spent online in 2019 with US merchants alone. Put that on a global scale and it’s easy to see how technology has enabled industries to expand their consumer base.

A side-effect of the increase in data is the servers that all this information is stored on. Millions of credit and debit cards are inputted online and sensitive information is floating all around the Internet. Companies who aren’t even in the tech-space are being forced to hire tech-workers to maintain the servers and protect their data.

One of the fastest-growing fields in that regard is cybersecurity. Experts in this field specialize in malware analysis and ethical hacking, among other skills, and focus on protecting the software and data that companies collect. As data continues to grow in importance and size, more professionals with tech-skills are going to be hired.

Remote Work

Even before the onset of Covid-19, remote work was seeing an upward trend. There are entire startups that function completely remotely where their teams have never met each other, but they are able to conduct meetings and business processes using computers.

This has enabled people from all over the world to be hired at companies and also opened potential hiring options for companies. There’s no point limiting your hiring options to one city when you can hire a capable web developer who is thousands of miles away but can still do the job.

A similar area to remote work that technology has had an effect on is remote learning. In today’s day and age, it is no longer necessary to fly across the country to receive an education at a prestigious Ivy League school. Top-rated trade schools that offer specialized courses that prepare students for specific fields have been popping up all over the country and offer online tuition as well as deferred tuition payments. Technology is changing both work and education by allowing remote access to everything.

Automation

Machine learning has allowed technology to become more efficient and more accurate than humans at a large number of tasks. Fields such as accounting that used to require a large amount of human input are being streamlined by technology. As mentioned earlier, however, accounting jobs are not going to disappear. They will just morph into something new.

As robotics advances and takes over tasks that can be automated, humans are going to be freed up to work on more valuable tasks that a robot can’t work on. For example, a field that has emerged partly due to this automation is data science. Becoming a data scientist requires analytical skills and an understanding of machine learning. A computer can collect data, but making business decisions on that data rests on the shoulders of a human data scientist.

Conclusion

The world is not going to be taken over by robots. Jobs will disappear as a result of advancing technology, surely, but newer jobs will emerge to replace them. The skills required by employees may change, but technology has made alternative trade schools and educational bootcamps available to anyone willing to learn. Work is going to change drastically and all anyone can do is try to predict how industries will be disrupted.

Make the Switch into Mobile App Development

Has Covid-19 caused you to second guess your current career path? Have you been furloughed, or just flat out laid off due to the pandemic?

Well, the truth is no one saw the Covid-19 pandemic coming, but what is more important is that you make the most of the situation in terms of your career. Covid-19 could turn out to be your golden opportunity to make that career switch into that awesome remote-based job you’ve always wanted. This handbook can serve as a great place to start.

The tech industry is still full steam ahead, even amid the ongoing Covid-19 global pandemic and global economic shutdown. The sector is booming, and it might just be calling your name, even if you don’t realize it.

In 2020, it’s a safe bet that you own and use a smartphone on a daily basis. You might even be reading this article on such a device right now. Well, have you ever thought about the professional programmers who build mobile apps like web browsers, news hubs, and that addicting puzzle game you can’t seem to stop playing. There are literally millions of mobile apps these days and all of us have our favorites. But how are these applications made? And just who is building them? The answer is mobile app developers

If you are thinking that a career in the booming tech industry, and more specifically in the mobile app development sector, then you might find yourself wondering as to how and where you can learn the necessary coding skills needed in mobile app development. You may assume that such a career requires one to earn a computer science, information technology, or maybe even a software engineering degree from a four-year university, or a two-year program at a local community or technical college. But in actuality, these more traditional tech education routes are quickly tossed aside as many new tech professionals are opting instead to learn their new programming skills through coding bootcamps.

A coding bootcamp is a short term, intensive program that will teach you everything you need to know to succeed in mobile app development, and they will teach it to you in less than a year. Moreover, they are incredibly flexible programs, with most schools, such as Galvanize, offering class scheduling options ranging from full time in-person, online, and even self-paced. This ensures that no matter who you are, and what your daily life looks like, there is a bootcamp for you.

Even better is the fact that many bootcamps also offer flexible tuition payment financing options such as deferred tuition payments and income-sharing agreements, which will allow to apply, enroll, and complete your bootcamps with the signed agreement that you will pay back the affordable tuition at a later date, after you have landed your first mobile app development job.

Alright. Now, you know where and how to learn your new coding skills. Let’s take a look at what you can expect from a mobile app development job once you get there.

Mobile App Development

As was mentioned earlier, mobile app developers are the skilled programmers who are responsible for building all of the mobile apps that we enjoy on our smart devices. Programming professionals make sure that our favorite apps for news, business, productivity, and of course media apps like Spotify, Pandora, and Apple music, are up-to-date and functioning properly so that we can continue to enjoy them. There are two main types of mobile app developers: iOS and Android.

iOS

iOS developers are responsible for building the mobile apps that Apple product users enjoy. They design, build, and maintain the apps that are used one every Apple mobile device, including the iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

iOS developers use a mobile app development environment called Xcode. Within Xcode, iOS developers use a primary programming language called Swift.

As an iOS developer, you can expect to earn an average salary of $113,000, with more senior developers earning over $170,000.

Android

Android is the most popular mobile operating system the world, powering almost every smart device that is not made by Apple. As the responsible programming professionals for every android powered device, including Google products like Chromebooks, they are always in demand.

Android mobile app developers enjoy a comfortable average salary of $126,000 to over $162,000.

Shockwave therapy is tech for the “sole”

It’s not every day as a technology-based company that you find yourself fascinated by something that is not tied to your line of work or area of expertise. Our agency reviews new tech updates, both hardware and software-wise, and rarely do we come across something that stops us dead in our tracks.

That changed today when we found ourselves reviewing this so-called “shockwave therapy” done by The Foot & Ankle Clinic, a podiatrist Wellington FL

Having been a former athlete in high school and college, foot and ankle issues were just things you dealt with that came with the territory. Basketball and soccer players are highly susceptible to these types of injuries due to the sudden changes in movement and direction while participating in the sport. Shockwave therapy piqued my interest as I know health is wealth, and I have had problems with plantar fasciitis in the past.

Could waving a “magic” wand producing sound waves heal a bum foot? According to research out there, there are some very promising studies behind it already!

Shockwave therapy is a very safe and non-invasive way to avoid surgery for people who suffer from joint and tendon issues in the foot and other areas. This active round of sound waves travels through the soft tissue of the foot and causing light trauma that will help induce your body to naturally give this area more attention to heal faster/better. New blood vessels and bone cells are created, and your body ultimately starts it’s road to a more rapid recovery. Shockwave therapy is highly attractive for those who are concerned about going “under the knife” trying to fix an issue through surgery.

As an avid tech person and also one that is hip to alternative medicine and therapy, this is some exciting stuff! Anytime tech and medicine can live in the same space synergistically, there is a chance for true health and healing.

In conclusion, I don’t know how soon we will be able to experience this new technology, but we cannot want to get down to south Florida to visit The Foot & Ankle Clinic to give it a try for ourselves.

Ps. If you need PPE supplies for your business during this pandemic, check out First Source Supply to check their current inventory.
